DESCRIPTION & DETAILS
Alexander Marine are pleased to have AGAIN SOLD this 2000 Grand Banks 42 Europa .
'Sequoia' was a rare Naiad stabilized Grand Banks 42 Europa. Classic features of this hugely popular motor yacht (around 1500 were built over the life of this model) included a pilothouse saloon, distinctive bulwarks, and a forward trunk cabin, with bridge overhangs defining the model.
On the aft deck, lazarette access was via twin hatches with deep gutters and gas-assisted rams which opened up this space, where plenty of storage was available - along with convenient access to the rudders and steering ram. Forward of this was another access hatch, also guttered and gas-assisted, allowed access to a mechanical area for water pumps and other systems. Within this space were twin Waceo fridge/freezers handy for longer voyages - a bulkhead separated this space from the engine room and this configuration allowed the maintenance team to reach mechanical gear without having to track through the boat's interior. The flybridge, accessible by stairs (not a ladder as per the early GB42's) was complete with a full helm station with dual helm seats. Passenger seating encompassed a spacious L -shaped lounge, plus a back-to-back seating module - all of which provided ample room for entertaining. Aft of the flybridge was dedicated for tender stowage with an electric davit used for tender launch and retrieval.
The interior was typical Grand Banks, richly finished in varnished teak to an industry leading standard of workmanship. The master cabin was forward, with a queen-size island berth and an adjacent head compartment with a shower. The second stateroom, amidships, was laid out with a double bed with ample storage. The U-shaped galley was up and conveniently included a 3 burner cooktop with an oven and dual drawer refrigerator. Interior dining and entertaining would take place around the drop-leaf table & comfortable L-shaped lounge. 'Sequoia' featured a parquetry sole throughout the interior of the boat.
Her walk-around decks made boating a safe and enjoyable pastime for people of all ages. Yet another outstanding feature of this impressive vessel.
Below the waterline, the 42 Europa was a semi-displacement hull with a full keel and protected propellers. Twin Cummins 370-hp diesel power plants that delivered 8 to 12-knot cruising speeds.
